Grow Spiritually in Rila
Rila, the highest mountain range in Bulgaria, spans 2,629 square kilometers and has an average altitude of 1,487 meters. Some of the longest rivers in the Balkans originate from this place, such as the Mesta, Iskar, and Maritsa rivers. Rila is also home to hot spring and glacial lakes.
Rila Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is the country’s largest and most important monastery and was founded here in the 10th century by Saint John of Rila – making this place the cultural and spiritual center of Bulgaria.
Many tourists who visit Rila come for winter sports, spa retreats and cultural tours. However, Rila is also said to be a strong energy center, especially around the lakes. It is said that some sensitive people can feel the energy’s power and others have reported strange dreams when they stay nearby.
