Hike Mt. Kilimanjaro

This dormant volcano makes for the perfect bucket lister as it is the highest mountain in Africa and the highest free-standing mountain in the world. It looms in the north Tanzanian skyline, along the Kenyan border, at 19,341 feet. There are seven official trekking routes to the top and guides are needed to reach the summit. Hikes can take anywhere from 4-9 days depending on the fitness of the hiker, weather, and altitude sickness. No technical skills are necessary, as the gradual incline is not much more than a long hike.
